Der Mensch als alltägliches Monster. Lesung in Englisch mit Texten aus der Berlin Writing Group

28-10-2012 (16:00)

The Berlin Writing Group will present a fun and thought-provoking reading of original texts about humans being their happily vicious everyday selves. Fun, fearsome, honorable and dishonorable, our characters move through life with ease and oblivion, adapting to the difficulties of everyday human interactions. The afternoon reading, to be held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 28th at the Buchhändlerkeller, will include a break for Kaffee & Kuchen.

The reading will include several pieces accompanied by piano from Dusty-Anne Rhodes' "People Crackers", a collection of characters encountered at difficult moments where the facade of their personality begins to show its cracks. C.L. McDaniel will be presenting a taste of his style with his short story about the international chili cook-off in west Texas. Several insightful poems by Giovanna Forni depict the abrasive direction human interactions can take. Her spitting man as well as her picture of closed small town attitudes remind us, that as a species we are not out of the woods yet. Noreen Flynn's tale of a first communion gives a different take on that special children's day, while Ute Reusch will win your hearts with her piece on a not uncommon illness and her delightful depiction of the ticket lines for the Berlinale. Annie Brandt will add her bit on some underwater sibling rivalry.
